For patients flying in, the treatment plan is built around flight dates and healing times. What happens before, during and after the trip.
For a patient flying in, planning starts before the journey. A remote assessment based on images and history sets the framework, and the schedule is then built around the number of days available. The aim is simple: complete as much as possible in one visit, and leave only the stages that genuinely need healing time for a second trip.
Stage one: assessment before you travel
A remote review does not replace an examination, but it is enough to shape a plan. We usually ask for:
- A panoramic X-ray or CT scan taken within the last six months
- Clear intraoral photographs: front teeth, both sides, upper and lower arch
- A summary of previous dental work and when it was done
- Your current medication and any medical conditions
- The dates you could travel and how many days you can stay
The definitive plan is confirmed on your first day here, once we have examined you and taken new images, because gum condition, bone density and the way your teeth meet can only be judged in person.
Stage two: how the days in Antalya are arranged
The first day is usually examination, imaging and reviewing the plan, with a short session rather than long surgery straight after a flight. From then on, treatment is concentrated. The guiding rule is that anything which can be finished in this visit is finished in this visit: fillings, root canals, gum treatment and extractions fit comfortably into one trip, and crown or veneer work can be completed through impression, try-in and fitting stages. Our pages on zirconia crowns and e.max veneers explain which suits which case.
Implant plans work differently, because the implant needs time to integrate with bone. The implant is placed on the first trip and the final restoration made on the second, with a temporary solution in between. Where measurements allow, an implant and a fixed temporary bridge can be completed in the same day; see our page on fixed teeth in a day.
Stage three: going home and following up
Before you leave you receive a written summary listing what was done, the materials used, your medication and the timing of the next steps, so a dentist at home can see exactly where you are. Questions after you travel can be answered from photographs, and the date of any second visit is set according to the healing schedule.
Travel notes
- Avoid a long flight on the day of surgery; leave at least one day if you can
- Drink water during the flight and go easy on caffeine and alcohol
- Carry your prescribed medication and the treatment summary with you
- Book the return flight for after the final appointment, ideally the following day
- Tell us early if your dates change so the schedule can be rebuilt
Our clinic is in Muratpasa and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which means appointments can also be placed in the evening or at the weekend.
