Ilica is one of Gazipasa's coastal settlements, where greenhouse farming and tourism sit side by side.

The most talked-about feature of clear aligners is that they are invisible, but what determines the result is the daily routine. A fixed brace works while you sleep; an aligner is removed and replaced by hand several times a day.

So this page is about the routine rather than the treatment: how many hours, when to remove them, how to clean them and what to do when something slips.

The Daily Routine of Clear Aligner Treatment

What sets the pace and the outcome is the time the aligner spends in the mouth.

How many hours a day, and why

An aligner moves a tooth with light continuous force, and continuity is what matters: when it is out the tooth not only stops moving but drifts back a little. Several short breaks are less harmful than one long one because total wear time is preserved. In practice the aligner should be out only for meals and brushing. Below the target, the aligner stops seating fully, the mismatch grows with each new one and treatment either stalls or has to be re-planned.

The daily routine

  • Take it out before eating; chewing with it in cracks it
  • Remove it for every drink but water; sugary drinks pool underneath
  • Hot tea and coffee distort it — never drink them with it in
  • Brush before reinserting, or at least rinse with water
  • Always use the case; a napkin is the commonest way it is lost
  • Switch to a new aligner at night so the first tight hours pass in sleep

Attachments, IPR and follow-up

An aligner cannot grip a smooth surface, so small tooth-coloured composite attachments are bonded where rotation or vertical movement is needed. They do not damage the tooth and are removed and polished away at the end; a lost attachment must be reported because the planned force is then not delivered. Where space is short, a very thin layer of enamel may be reduced between teeth (IPR) to create the millimetres needed. Review visits check seating, planned movement and gum health.

Getting Here, Booking and Emergencies from Ilica

Route, booking and emergency arrangements for patients from Ilica.

Getting here from Ilica

Ilıca lies in the Manavgat district of Antalya; Manavgat is a coastal tourism district, about 75 kilometres from the clinic. We also see patients from neighbouring areas that share the route from Ilica, such as Kadılar, Karavca, Kızılot, Örnek. You can ask for the location on WhatsApp when travelling from Ilica.

Appointments for Ilica

Because a trip from Ilıca takes a day, the schedule for staged treatment is drawn up at the outset and given to you as a whole. As with patients from Manavgat generally, appointments for families from Ilica can be scheduled consecutively.

Emergencies from Ilica

Always call before setting out from Ilıca at night; over this distance the guidance you receive on the phone matters in keeping the situation from worsening. For patients coming from Dental Clinic in Ilica, the clinic is open 24/7 and in an emergency the order is set by severity rather than arrival time. For spreading facial swelling, difficulty swallowing or breathing, or toothache with fever, go to the nearest emergency department.

A Broken Tooth: What Each Type of Fracture Means

Tooth fractures are not a single category. The depth of the fracture directly determines the treatment and whether the tooth can be saved.

Classification by depth

This is the first thing established at examination:

  • Enamel only: no pain, the edge is smoothed or composite added
  • Enamel and dentine: sensitive to cold, closed with a filling
  • Reaching the pulp: a red spot on the fracture, root canal needed
  • Root fracture: seen on radiograph, extraction usually follows
  • Vertical root fracture: the hardest picture, with a low chance of saving

Keep the broken piece

If the fractured crown fragment is clean and complete it can be bonded back on. The result is more natural than any filling can achieve, because the colour, translucency and surface texture are the tooth's own. Bring the piece in milk or saline; once dry its colour fades and the bond weakens. This is a detail most patients do not know, and the opportunity is missed.

Do not delay even without pain

A fracture confined to enamel may cause no pain, but the sharp edge continually cuts the tongue and cheek. More importantly, bacteria reaching the dentine through the fracture can advance and affect the pulp. What today is solved with a small composite may need root canal treatment weeks later.

Frequently Asked Questions 17

01

Can I chew with a broken tooth?

Do not use that side. The weakened wall can fracture more deeply under chewing force, and if the fracture goes below gum level the chance of saving the tooth falls markedly. Eat soft food and wait until your appointment.
02

It broke at night — can it wait until morning?

If there is no bleeding, no severe pain and the pulp is not exposed, it can wait until morning. If you can see a red spot on the fracture surface, or air contact causes sharp pain, the pulp is exposed and that warrants attention the same night.
03

How is a cracked tooth identified?

The typical sign is a brief sharp pain on releasing a bite. A crack may not show on a radiograph; it is sought with a bite test, dye and magnification. Diagnosed early it can be protected with a crown; once it progresses, root canal treatment or extraction is needed.
04

Was it the filling or the tooth?

It is hard to tell with your tongue, and the distinction matters little; either way that surface is now unprotected. A white, smooth fragment is more likely a filling; a grey-yellow one with a hard edge more likely tooth. The distinction is made at examination and the urgency is the same.
05

I forgot to wear the aligner for a day — what now?

Go back to the current aligner and stay on it a little longer. Do not jump to the next one; an aligner that does not seat delivers no force and the mismatch accumulates.
06

Can I smoke or drink coffee with aligners in?

Nothing but water should be consumed with the aligner in. Coffee and tea stain it, hot drinks distort it, smoke discolours it, and sugary drinks pool against the teeth.
07

How do I reach the clinic from here?

Our clinic is in Muratpasa and is reached from Ilıca (Gazipaşa) by city transport; call for directions or use the map on our contact page.
08

Can I come without an appointment?

In an emergency, yes — you are seen without an appointment for pain, swelling, bleeding, a broken tooth or trauma, and the order is set by how serious the problem is rather than by arrival time. For planned treatment, calling ahead means the dentist, the chair and the time your procedure needs are reserved for you, so you are not kept waiting.
09

Are you open at night and at weekends?

Yes. The clinic has no closing time: it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and that includes night hours, Saturdays and Sundays, and public holidays. There is no rota to check and no need to ask which day we are on duty. The telephone line is open at the same hours, so you can describe your situation before setting out.
10

I am looking for a dentist in Ilıca — where should I come?

Our clinic is on Sair Adem Dede Street in Muratpasa and serves the Ilıca area, open 24/7. Call ahead for planned treatment; walk in for an emergency.
11

How should I plan my appointment coming from Ilıca?

Tell us how many procedures you need and how much time you have. For patients from Ilıca we combine as much as possible into one visit.
12

Is there a dental clinic open evenings and weekends near Ilıca?

Our clinic has no closing time — evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays included. If you work shifts you can set the appointment around your own schedule.
13

Can our family be treated on the same day from Ilıca?

Yes. Tell us how many are coming and what each needs; appointments are scheduled consecutively so the household is seen in one visit.
14

Which dental problems are most common in the Ilıca area?

The difference between areas is not the type of problem but when people come. Decay, gum disease and missing teeth are the commonest everywhere.
15

Can I come at night from Ilıca in an emergency?

Yes, the clinic is open at night as well. Calling as you set out helps in two ways: you receive first-aid guidance on the telephone, and the radiograph and surgery are made ready while you travel, so you are not kept waiting when you arrive. Do not wait until morning if there is swelling spreading across the face, difficulty swallowing or a fever — those signs need to be seen straight away.
16

Does the information on this page apply across Manavgat?

The clinical information is the same everywhere; only travel and scheduling differ. You can find your own area's page in our area guide.
17

I have braces and struggle to clean around them. What should I use?

With braces, plaque gathers quickly around the brackets, so you need more tools. Alongside your normal brush, small interdental brushes and a single-tufted brush reach around each bracket. A floss threader or pre-threaded flossers get floss under the wire, and a water flosser helps as well. Clean after every meal, use fluoride toothpaste, and keep your review appointments.
